Daily Supplement Must-Haves
Neglecting the physical components to your fitness and nutrition can be shamefully easy. And honestly, I can say that because I know precisely how skipping a workout here or there or choosing last minute processed foods can affect your overall health.
Falling out of a healthy mindset and into survival mode can be especially easy to default to with so much going on, and the recurrent long, busy days. Even as a Certified Personal Trainer getting wrapped up into the whirlwind of the week can leave me in a nutritional funk, no doubt keep me from hitting goals in the gym, and even more importantly, keep me from feeling good.
To keep up with a crowded schedule and keep my eye on my health (namely my mental health these days), I rely heavily on supporting my body with top of the line supplements.
Let’s rewind, though, for a minute to my early days as a trainer and athlete. I probably would have spouted some boastful adage about how I could get everything I need to back my health and fitness through whole foods and my “super clean” eating habits. The more honest and practical me says, “Pfffff.”
While I believe you can live a healthy and nutritionally sound life by eating a well-balanced diet, I know that isn’t the case for most of us. Holes in our daily food intake, falling short on protein, combating inflammation, and keeping our guts (and brains) balanced takes more than just “good food.”
At the end of the day, I want to feel my absolute best, age well, stay focused, and make staying healthy as easy as possible. Here is a quick list of the supplements that are a part of my daily regimen. (and of course, you can use the code NOEXCUSES to save 20% at checkout).
At Ease: A product in the Mastermind line, At Ease quickly became a supplement must-have in my arsenal. No matter what the workload is, or how crazy my schedule gets, At Ease keeps my energy high while reducing the overwhelming feelings of stress and anxiety that can arise (hello LIFESAVER!).
Best use - take two capsules in the morning before the “crazy” begins, and be sure to drink plenty of water to help support brain function, metabolism, and focus.
PALEO(ish) Protein: As a typical “low carb” athlete, the PALEO(ish) Protein helps me refuel and repair muscle after a hard workout session.
Best use - mix one scoop with 8-10 oz unsweetened coconut milk, ¼ cup frozen banana, ¼ cup almonds, and a tablespoon of almond butter. If you're following a ketogenic diet or looking to add more healthy fat, you can also add a scoop of the Wild C8 MCT Powder.
*A really, REALLY close second is the Daily Strength Protein. I take this stuff with me EVERYWHERE and drink up after all my outdoor adventures!
The Good Stuff: The prepackaged vitamins will keep you from wondering if you already took your multi, or asking, "did I take my fish oil after breakfast?" Eliminate the confusion and hassle with your daily dose, ready in individually packaged “to go” single packs.
And the cherry on top? The Good Stuff includes my “must-have supplements” for daily health and maintenance. A multivitamin, fish oil, and probiotics.
Best use - take them everywhere, including the backcountry, camping trips, your next vacation, or work functions. Single daily packs make “forgetting” a non-viable excuse.
One of the critical elements in keeping my body feeling good (you know, without the nagging pain and aches) is Joint Advantage. Like I’ve said before, taking care of your joints for long term gain isn’t instant gratification. With the ingredients Wilderness Athletes formulators use in this supplement, it will help reduce inflammation and keep your body ready. Not matter if I am on the road for travel, in the mountains on a hunt, or at home living “normal life,” Joint Advantage is a must.
There are many products on the market today, and your body’s needs can be hard to navigate. I recommend you define your goals, assess your needs, and start with the basics. Optimize your overall mental and physical function with the supplements mentioned above, and start feeling the difference for yourself.
